Hepatitis B vaccination

Any role with possible exposure to blood or body fluids carries a hepatitis B requirement: healthcare and care workers, dental staff, tattooists and piercers, cleaners handling sharps, prison and police officers, laboratory staff, and many roles in social care and education for children with additional needs.

The standard course is three doses at 0, 1 and 6 months. When a job starts soon, the accelerated course gives three doses at 0, 1 and 2 months and a booster at 12; protection is adequate after the third dose. We run both privately at all six branches and give you a signed record after each dose — see the hepatitis B vaccination page and which schedule to choose.

Some employers ask for a blood test one to four months after the course to confirm you responded. Most people do; a minority need extra doses. We can advise on where to get that test done.

If the job also needs MMR, chickenpox, tetanus, or hepatitis A, our occupational vaccination service covers the full list in one plan, with a single certificate.
