Premature ejaculation treatment

Premature ejaculation is defined less by a stopwatch than by control and distress: ejaculating sooner than you or your partner want, most of the time, and minding about it. Around one in three men experience it at some point, and it is very treatable.

Behavioural methods work for many: the stop-start technique, the squeeze technique, and pelvic floor exercises all build control over weeks. Condoms, particularly thicker or benzocaine ones, reduce sensitivity. None of these need a prescription.

Dapoxetine is the only licensed tablet. Taken 1–3 hours before sex, it typically doubles or triples time to ejaculation on the day. Our pharmacists can supply it privately to men aged 18–64 after a confidential consultation — details on the service page and in our plain-English guide. It is not suitable with heart disease, fainting history, or most antidepressants.

If erectile difficulties are part of the picture, treating those first often helps — see our ED service. And if anxiety or relationship strain is driving it, psychosexual counselling has good evidence; your GP can refer.
