Male pattern hair loss is driven by DHT, a testosterone by-product that miniaturises follicles in genetically susceptible men. It works regardless of cause, pairs well with finasteride — the combination outperforms either alone — and its main demands are consistency and patience: allow 3–6 months to judge results, and expect a little extra shedding in the first weeks as follicles reset. That shedding is a sign it's working.
The earlier you start, the more you keep — these medicines are far better at preserving and thickening than resurrecting long-bald scalp.
